Boxes filled with books

“Libraries in a Box” ready to go home
for the summer with our students.

This year marks the 13th anniversary of Golding’s “Library in a Box,” the Middle School Library’s summer reading program.

Librarian Meg Berdan and Library Aide Sue Petersen began this original program way back in 2006!

Students in grades 5-8 may borrow a box of books provided that they do not have overdue materials or unpaid fines. Books are borrowed in mid-June and returned on the first day of school in September. New 9th graders may return their books to the HS Library (same due date).

Over the past 12 years, we have sent home 552 “Libraries in a Box” with students and teachers! So far, the Golding Middle School Library has loaned 5,155 books to our summer readers!
