Building Safety Procedures
Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Students who arrive to the High School before 7:45 a.m. may wait in the “Commons Area” outside the Cafeteria or inside the Cafeteria for breakfast. At 7:45 a.m., students will be released to go to their lockers. Homeroom period will begin at 7:52 a.m. Students arriving to their homerooms after 7:52 a.m. will be considered late to school.
According to Board policy the display and/or use by students of cellular phones and pagers are prohibited at all times on the school bus, and/or until the instructional day is over. Such devices must be turned off during this period. This prohibition includes attendance at school-sponsored events and activities held during the school day. Misuse of a cellular phone or pager may result in its confiscation and a parent may be asked to retrieve the device. Other electronic devices such as CD players, I-Pods, Game Boys and other such items brought to school must remain off and in the student’s locker from the start of homeroom through the end of ninth period. Failure to comply may result in confiscation and a parent may be asked to retrieve the device.
Juniors and Seniors may drive to school without a parking permit at the beginning of school. To obtain a parking permit, a student and parent must attend one of the student parking meetings held at the start of school. As of Sept. 30 each year, all students must have parking permits to park at the high school.
Whenever entering the school building report immediately to the office, sign in and receive a visitor’s pass. Never go to any classroom without first reporting to the main office to sign in and receive a visitor’s pass.
The Board of Education attendance policy asks parents to notify the office every time your child is absent. The office will make an effort to contact you on a daily basis if your child is not in school and we have not heard from you. Please remember to send a written excuse within three days to school with your child when returning from an absence.
