After an exhaustive search, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School Principal Melissa Ausfeld has been appointed as the Director of Student Services, effective July 3.
The office of Director of Student Services provides leadership in many areas, including federal grants, special education, related services, guidance and counseling, school health services, school safety, data management, and many other areas. As Director of Student Services, Mrs. Ausfeld succeeds longtime C-R educator Bill Wolfanger, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
“Ms. Ausfeld is an accomplished leader with a strong record of success at our high school,” said Superintendent Carl Mummenthey. “We attracted a diverse and talented pool of candidates, all of whom were carefully considered. Mrs. Ausfeld is an accomplished educator who is familiar with the challenges and opportunities C-R students are presented with. I look forward to welcoming her to her new role in July.”
Mrs. Ausfeld has been an educator for 20 years, beginning as an elementary school teacher in the Northville Central School District in 1997. While in Northville, Ausfeld also served as a curriculum and AIS coordinator, and dean of students for grades 7-12.
In 2005, Ausfeld joined the Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District as the assistant high school principal, and has served as the principal since 2008.
“I am excited to use the 12 years of experiences that I have had as both principal and assistant principal to serve in my new role at Cobleskill-Richmondville,” said Ausfeld. “I am looking forward to working with the students of C-R in this new capacity, while working alongside a great team at C-R that is dedicated to providing the best educational experiences for all students.”
Mrs. Ausfeld will serve as high school principal through the end of the school year. The district will conduct a search for her successor and appoint a new principal for the 2017-18 school year.
