Marathoner to students: Work hard, believe in yourself

June 2, 2016

2016-06-01 14.59.55Tera Moody says when she first started running in 7th grade she couldn’t finish a mile. Years later, she represented the US at the 2009 World Championships.

“Hard work, over time, really pays off,” the marathoner told C-RHS track athletes on Wednesday, June 1.

The Nike-sponsored track star took questions from our young athletes, on topics ranging from her training schedule to if she ever “splurges” and eats candy.

Moody says she eats a serving of Reese’s Pieces every day, but she also runs 100 miles a week.

“I think it’s important to reward yourself for the hard work you do,” she told CRHS track athletes. “But I don’t have that candy until I get my five fruits and veggies in.”

She left the C-RHS students with the philosophy that drives her:

“Be patient, train hard, and believe in yourself.”
