C-R SADD chapter helps raise drinking-and-driving awareness

December 12, 2019

SADD, the Schoharie County Stop DWI program and SCCASA have helped bring a display to C-R High School that depicts the dangers of drinking and driving.

The Cobleskill-Richmondville chapter of Students Against Drunk Driving is teaming up with the Schoharie County Stop DWI Program and SCCASA (Schoharie County Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse) to bring traveling displays to C-R High School.

The displays, through words and images, portray high school and college athletes from New York State whose lives were put in danger by someone’s choice to drink and drive. The displays focus on fateful events in a forensic style.

The displays are located outside of the high school cafeteria, and SADD members are there during their free periods to lead students around the displays. Students are encouraged to reflect and get to know the stories and legacies behind the students affected by poor choices. They are sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, teammates and above all, friends. They had everything to live for, but one bad choice changed everything.

If you have any questions about the displays, please contact Lynne Bower, Cobleskill-Richmondville SADD Advisor, at 234-3565; or Maggie Jackman Pryor, SCCASA Business Manager, at 234-8705.
