C-R graduation rate climbs, tops state average

February 5, 2019

Cobleskill-Richmondville’s graduation rate continues to rise!

In the past four years, C-R’s graduation rate climbed from 73 percent in 2015 to 82 percent in 2018, according to data released by the State Education Department.

The combined number of Regents and Advanced Regents diplomas awarded also rose from 2017 to 2018.

Superintendent Carl Mummenthey says the increased graduation rate is the result of solid planning and good, old-fashioned hard work – by students, teachers, and the entire school community.

“Results like this don’t occur in a vacuum,” he said. “We set an ambitious goal for our graduation rate in our strategic plan a few years ago, and the C-R community has been supportive of that goal.

Mummenthey says he’s particularly thankful for the staff on the front lines of student success.

“We have a wonderful group of caring, hard-working professionals in this district,” he says. “I commend them for the work they do, every day, for the children of this district.”

Mummenthey cautions that numbers may fluctuate in the upcoming years, “but we’re on the right trajectory and we have momentum.”
