C-R fares well at Odyssey of the Mind competition

March 25, 2019

Earlier this month, C-R Odyssey of the Mind teams competed at the regional tournament held at Shenendehowa High School.

Our teams did very well as a whole!   We had five teams move on to the State Tournament on Saturday, March 23, at SUNY Birmingham.  All of our high school teams, one middle school team, and one elementary team are moving on to perform at the state tournament. Also, our high school as a whole was recognized for having the most amount of teams to place, which was a great honor.

Here’s how our teams placed overall:  For the high school, Victoria Kleinberger and Allison Atkins’ team placed first, Natasha Foote’s team placed second, earning a lottery slot, and Katrina Maki’s team earned first place.  For the Middle School, Jamie Crewell’s team placed 2nd, earning a lottery slot and Katrina Maki’s team place 3rd.  For the elementary school, Elizabeth Hackney’s team placed 2nd, earning a lottery slot, and Christine Thaxter’s team earned 3rd place. When teams earn a lottery slot, it indicates that although they didn’t earn first place, the judges felt that their performance was well done and should be re-preformed at the state tournament.  Only a small amount of lottery slots are given, so receiving a lottery slot is quite an honor.

Congratulations to all C-R Odyssey of the Mind teams on a job well done.  We wish the teams continuing on to the state tournament so much luck this coming weekend.
