The New York State Police donated more than 30 pairs of wrestling shoes to the Cobleskill-Richmondville central School Athletic Department on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

The donation of gently worn shoes came from cadets in the 204th Session of the Basic School, who wear the shoes for two weeks of their six-month training.

On hand to deliver the shoes were academy training officers Kevin Mahan and Lauren Warner. The donation was a personal endeavor for both of them. Warner, a trooper of four years, was previously a teacher at C-RHS. Mahan is a wrestling coach at Guilderland.

“Cobleskill-Richmondville wasn’t chosen at random,” said Mahan. “We chose wrestling programs where we felt the shoes would be need and appreciated.”

“We’re grateful to the state police for this thoughtful donation,” said Superintendent Carl Mummenthey. “The shoes are greatly appreciated and will be put to good use.”
