The Bill of Rights celebrate 220th anniversary
Students in Mr. Weiss' Participation in Government Class spent time researching the five pillars of the first amendment: freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. The students also took a quiz to test their knowledge of the Bill of Rights.
The students were interested in a new initiative called We the People, your voice in government. At this site students reviewed petitions created by ordinary citizens "...a new way to petition the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues..." Some students electronically signed petitions, others plan on creating their own. Hopefully you will find their petition and perhaps sign it.
