Energy Management

Bill Himme, Energy Manager
294-6621, ext. 2004

Cobleskill-Richmondville began its energy conservation program three years ago when it partnered with Energy Education, Inc. (EEI), to reduce the district's energy use and associated costs.

Since then, C-RCS has received national recognition for its energy conservation efforts from the Energy Star program, which is co-sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. The district received the EPA's Top Performer Award in 2009. In June 2009, C-RCS also received an award from EEI (click here to read more).

At the beginning of the 2009-10 school year, C-RCS was among the top 9 percent of organizations in the nation for energy efficiency. In New York State, the Golding-Ryder Complex ranks No. 1 among all buildings for energy efficiency, thanks to its geothermal heating system.

Over the past three years, C-RCS has reduced its energy consumption by 32 percent and has saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in energy costs: The district expects its energy cost savings to reach the $1 million mark during the fall of 2009.
