Cobleskill-Richmondville began its energy conservation program eight years ago when it partnered with Cenergistic to reduce the district’s energy use and associated costs. Since then, C-RCS has received national recognition for its energy conservation efforts from the Energy Star program, which is co-sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. C-RCS is among the top 9 percent of organizations in the nation for energy efficiency. In New York State, the Golding-Ryder Complex ranks among all buildings for energy efficiency, thanks to its geothermal heating system. During the past eight years, C-RCS has reduced its energy consumption by 32 percent and has reduce annually hundreds of thousands of dollars in energy costs. The district has avoided spending $2.1 millon since implementing it’s energy conservation program.  The district has received the EPA’s ‘Energy Star Leader’ award every year since 2009.  The district has also received numerous awards from Cenergistic on it’s outstanding performance with energy conservation.
