C-RCS voters approve 2015-16 School Budget

owl-chalkboard-thank-youVoters have approved the 2015-16 budget for Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District with 664 votes in favor (76%) and 208 opposed (24%).

The bus purchase proposition has also passed with 651 votes in favor (75%) and 218 opposed (25%).

Melissa Bartlett and Dan Schulte were re-elected to three-year terms on the C-RCS Board of Education with 702 and 463 votes, respectively. Justin Smith garnered 359 votes. Bartlett and Schulte will begin their terms on July 1.

“We’re grateful for the community’s ongoing support of our district’s programs” said Superintendent Carl Mummenthey. “We try very hard to  balance the needs of our students and the needs of the community’s taxpayers and I think the approval of next year’s school budget shows that we’ve struck  the right balance.”

Mummenthey also thanked the candidates for the board of education.

“I look forward  to continuing to work with Mrs. Bartlett and Mr. Schulte,” he said, “and I want to thank Mr. Smith for running and I hope he remains involved with the board and the district.”

Also on the ballot:

  • The Community Library Budget was approved/rejected by voters with 646 votes in favor (74%)
    and 224 opposed (24%).
  • Harriet Berard was elected to a 5-year term on the Public Library Board.
