C-R students head to SkillsUSA state championships

Nine Cobleskill-Richmondville and Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) students will compete later this month in the SkillsUSA statewide competition designed to test their technical skills and knowledge.

The students earned the right to compete at the championships on April 25-27 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse after placing among the top finishers in each of their events during a regional competition held last month.

The C- RHS students and the area of study in which they’ll compete are as follows:

  • Toni Wait, Cosmetology
  • Chris Goodrich, Automotive Trades Technology
  • Anthony Loeber, CRCS, Culinary Arts, culinary arts
  • Isidro Santiago, CRCS, Culinary Arts, culinary arts
  • Brianna Boniecki, CRCS, Culinary Arts, cake decorating
  • Dahkeya King, CRCS, Welding, welding
  • Devin McClear, CRCS, Manufacturing and Machining Technology, CNC milling specialist
  • Cheyenne Jackson, Mohonasen, Welding, welding sculpture
  • Nick Pruiksma, CRCS, Welding, welding fabrication team (along with Dylan Park, Niskayuna, Aiden Williams, Niskayuna)

Danielle Graham is not competing but is attending the competition as Area 3 Officer.

Winners of the state competition are eligible to advance to the national competition in Kentucky in June.
